Glastonbury Fans have begun paying tribute to Michael Jackson, who died today (June 25) at the age of 50.
The King of Pop’s music is being played across the festival site at Worthy Farm in Somerset, as fans break out into spontaneous applause.
Gigwise’s Scott Colothan, who is at the event, described the mood as “the most surreal night” he had experienced at a music festival.
Jackson’s shock death looks set to overshadow the event, which is due to get under way officially in the morning.
As previously reported on Gigwise, Jackson was rushed to hospital from his home in Los Angeles suffering from a suspected heart attack.
The singer, who was in a coma, was pronounced dead upon arrival to the UCLA Medical Centre.
Jackson’s death comes just weeks before the singer was due to make his comeback with a 50-night concert residency in London.
